Set close to the centre of Crouch End in north London in a conservation area, this whole house renovation opens up the ground floor into a light filled contemporary extension. The form minimises impact to neighbouring properties by setting down in section and setting back in plan at the boundaries. On the opposite side the site steps down to the neighbour and a large glass to glass lantern over the kitchen allowed light to remain un-obstructed to the neighbours glass houses. All volumes were maximised and roof spaces opened up with large dormers that step to minimise visual size from the street.
